From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.<br><br>The Role<br><br>In this role, you will participate in all phases of software development from requirements through implementation and test to operations. Our team tackles many critical satellite functions: power management, hardware interfaces, command & telemetry, and autonomous control.<br><br>Job Responsibilities<br><br><ul><li> Develop embedded software in C, C++, Rust, or other languages in a real-time operating system environment</li><li> Architect, design, and implement software for satellite constellation</li><li> Write software to interact with devices/electronics using I2C, SPI, RS-422, RS-485, Ethernet, etc. communications</li><li> Write device drivers and system applications for flight code and flight management</li><li> Work closely with hardware teams to support board bring-up and integration testing<br><br></li></ul>Export Control Requirement<br><br>Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.<br><br><strong>Basic Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience</li><li> 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience</li><li> 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience</li><li> Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team<br><br></li></ul><strong>Preferred Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience</li><li> Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent<br><br></li></ul>Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.<br><br>Los Angeles County applicants: Job duties for this position include: work safely and cooperatively with other employees, supervisors, and staff; adhere to standards of excellence despite stressful conditions; communicate effectively and respectfully with employees, supervisors, and staff to ensure exceptional customer service; and follow all federal, state, and local laws and Company policies. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
