Join SHEIN and be the future!<br><br><strong>Position Summary<br><br></strong>We are looking for a Database Engineer with experience working in large-scale mission-critical environments with zero downtime for our San Diego-based corporate office. The SHEIN DBRE team is a mix of DBA/SRE/DBRE oriented folks whose overarching goal is to provide highly available data services at scale. They strive to build an extremely reliable, performant, and secure database infrastructure through the skillful use of automation.<br><br>This team is responsible for providing new architectures and scalability solutions to ever-growing business and data processing needs. Our ideal candidate has a strong understanding of database fundamentals and how the properties of different database systems interact with applications and operating systems. You will be working onsite on a distributed team, with access to multiple customer environments.<br><br><strong>Job Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Maintaining scalable, reliable, and robust production database environments. </li><li>Monitoring for problems and diagnosing and addressing those problems as needed. </li><li>Performance tuning, query optimization, and index tuning. </li><li>Building database tools and scripts to simplify, automate, to reduce operation toil. </li><li>Responsible for working with development teams and engineers to provide a database design guidance. </li><li>Handle Database upgrades and migrations, while monitoring and improving database performance. </li><li>Triage and solve database issues, drive incidents until resolution and employ measures to prevent recurrence. </li><li>Do capacity planning benchmarking on various databases. </li><li>Provide assessments of data integrity, high availability, data security, and privacy. </li><li>Provide 24x7 escalated on-call support on a pager rotation.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Job Requirements<br><br></strong><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent technical discipline.</li><li>MySQL specific database experience.</li><li>Experience using Azure or any other cloud provider. </li><li>A solid understanding of distributed/replicated database topologies.</li><li>Systematic problem-solving approach, combined with a sense of ownership and drive.</li><li>Track record monitoring and analyzing system performance, isolating issues or bottlenecks that could impact reliability, performance and scalability.</li><li>Good understanding of Linux system, ability to deploy open-source software independently.</li><li>Proficient in more than one scripting language (golang/python/shell, etc.).</li><li>A strong desire to be challenged by problems of scale and complexity to make our service better for our customers.</li><li>The ability to remain calm in the face of extreme crises.</li><li>Good verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work effectively with geographically remote teams. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Nice to have <br><br></strong><ul><li>Fluency in Mandarin</li><li>Experience managing MySQL / Percona Server 8 at scale. </li><li>Experience managing distributed database, like Clickhouse, Hbase, MongoDB and Starrocks etc.</li><li>Experience with Percona tools, Orchestrator, Ghost etc.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Benefits And Perks<br><br></strong><ul><li>Bonus eligible</li><li>Healthcare (medical, dental, vision, prescription drugs) </li><li>Health Savings Account with Employer Funding </li><li>Flexible Spending Accounts (Healthcare and Dependent care) </li><li>Company-Paid Basic Life/AD&D insurance </li><li>Company-Paid Short-Term and Long-Term Disability </li><li>Voluntary Benefit Offerings (Voluntary Life/AD&D, Hospital Indemnity, Critical Illness, and Accident) </li><li>Employee Assistance Program </li><li>Business Travel Accident Insurance </li><li>401(k) Savings Plan with discretionary company match and access to a financial advisor </li><li>Vacation, paid holidays, floating holiday and sick days </li><li>Employee discounts </li><li>Free weekly catered lunch </li><li>Dog-friendly office (available at select locations) </li><li>Free gym access (available at select locations) </li><li>Free swag giveaways </li><li>Annual Holiday Party </li><li>Invitations to pop-ups and other company events </li><li>Complimentary daily office snacks and beverages<br><br></li></ul>Pay Range: $86,400 USD - $138,000 USD<br><br>
