PR Specialist, Earned Media – Digital PR

Other Jobs To Apply

Job Description:

  • Own execution of assigned campaigns by organizing briefs, drafting materials, building targeted outlet lists, conducting outreach, following up, managing responses, and reporting results.
  • Pitch journalists, editors, podcast producers, newsletter writers, and other relevant publishers with individualized, newsworthy angles.
  • Maintain and grow authentic media relationships.
  • Draft and edit press releases, story pitches, attorney commentary, statements, interview briefs, thought-leadership materials, and client updates.
  • Identify proactive opportunities from breaking news, litigation developments, public records, client milestones, and timely trends.
  • Support digital PR campaigns promoting original research, surveys, useful resources, and data-driven stories.
  • Coordinate outreach sequencing, exclusives, and embargoes when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with SEO and link-building colleagues to connect editorial opportunities with relevant content and audience goals.
  • Coordinate attorneys and clients for interviews, approvals, and time-sensitive journalist requests.
  • Maintain accurate calendars, status updates, and campaign records.
  • Monitor and distinguish independent earned coverage, wire syndication, editorial mentions and links, referral activity, and other campaign outcomes.
  • Help refine processes, reporting templates, campaign intake, and cross-team workflows.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive legal and survivor-advocacy matters with care, accuracy, sound judgment, and discretion.
  • Advance assigned client campaigns from approved strategy to timely, accurate materials and sustained outreach with limited oversight.
  • Provide dependable client and internal-team updates and reporting that distinguishes coverage types and actual value.

Requirements:

  • Roughly 3 to 5 years of hands-on PR/media relations experience, preferably in an agency or other fast-moving, multi-account environment; candidates with equivalent experience are welcome.
  • Demonstrated experience independently pitching media, following up appropriately, managing inquiries, and contributing to genuine earned coverage (not only drafting releases or distributing them).
  • Excellent writing, editing, and news judgment, including the ability to translate technical or sensitive material into accurate, compelling stories.
  • Strong organization and accountability: able to move several live campaigns forward, manage approvals and deadlines, and communicate progress without constant supervision.
  • Confidence working with clients, subject-matter experts, journalists, and colleagues across different functions.
  • Understanding of editorial independence and the distinctions among earned media, sponsored content, and press release distribution.
  • Experience in legal or litigation PR, public affairs, corporate communications, advocacy, consumer issues, or other high-stakes/regulated fields.
  • Experience with digital PR, data-led outreach, surveys, original research, online editorial publishers, newsletters, or podcasts.
  • Familiarity with Muck Rack, Cision, PR Newswire, media monitoring platforms, and media contact databases.
  • Working understanding of how editorial mentions, relevant links, referral traffic, SEO, and brand visibility intersect; prior link-building production experience is not required.
  • Experience creating concise, client-ready coverage reports and identifying actionable lessons from campaign results.

Benefits:

  • 401(k): Match 100% of employee contributions up to 4%
  • Unlimited Manager-Approved Paid Time Off
  • Health Insurance: Aetna PPO & EPO options (Subsidized $300 per month)
  • Dental & Vision Insurance: Guardian
  • Company-provided MacBook
  • Fully Remote

1. HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR DAY?

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? Remote teams can be made up of people working on different shifts and around the world, so you won't necessarily be stuck in the 9-5 schedule if it's not for you...

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

8. HOW TO PRIORITIZE WORK?

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
