About the position

The Financial Partnerships Lead oversees the bank, infrastructure, and credit partners that support Nova, AngelList’s payments network. Nova has operated within AngelList for five years, moving \$90 billion between funds and investors, and is expanding to serve venture, private equity, and real estate markets. This senior individual-contributor role reports to Nova’s GM and may grow into building a team. The role develops partnership strategy, selects and negotiates with partners, and ensures partner relationships support and accelerate Nova’s roadmap. It also maintains network resilience, serves as the senior contact for partners, and leads third-party oversight in collaboration with Risk, Compliance, and AML. AngelList operates hubs in New York City and San Francisco. For most roles on those teams, employees work from the office at least two days per week, on Tuesdays and either Wednesday or Thursday. Compensation includes a competitive base salary, benefits, and equity. The base salary is \$235,000 or more annually, with actual compensation varying based on professional background, experience, and location.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own partnership strategy while collaborating with Product to bring Nova’s roadmap to life.
  • Define and own the partner selection process and strategy, from market mapping through commercial negotiations.
  • Lead the search for new partners as Nova expands its offerings and infrastructure requirements.
  • Maintain network resilience by managing deposit concentration, maintaining redundancy options for critical partners, and renegotiating or replacing partners as needed.
  • Serve as the senior point of contact and escalation contact for each partner, from working teams to executives.
  • Lead third-party oversight with Risk, Compliance, and AML, including partner audits, diligence requests, and issue remediation.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in bank partnerships, fintech partnerships, treasury or deposit programs, or banking.
  • Experience managing partner banks, sweep networks, payment providers, or infrastructure providers, and understanding how banks oversee fintech partners, including third-party risk, BSA/AML, and FDIC insurance for custodial deposits.
  • Experience negotiating complex commercial agreements alongside counsel and modeling the economics before signing.
  • Ability to discuss APIs, payment rails, and reconciliation with engineers and explain partner limitations to Product in clear terms.
  • Ability to manage several high-stakes relationships without an established playbook, make decisions before all data is available, and write decision memos for leadership.
  • Interest in finding ways AI can reduce workload and provide leverage.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary, benefits, and equity package.
  • AngelList supports employees’ lives both in and outside of work; detailed benefits are provided through its benefits information and during recruitment.

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?
