Provide assistance and information to community members regarding city services, programs, and events. Maintain a safe and secure environment by patrolling assigned areas, identifying and reporting potential safety hazards, and responding to emergency situations. Enforce local and state laws and regulations by issuing citations and warnings, and making arrests when necessary. Conduct thorough investigations and gather evidence in response to reported incidents, such as thefts, accidents, and disturbances. Communicate effectively and professionally with fellow team members, law enforcement personnel, and members of the public. Establish and maintain positive relationships with community members, businesses, and organizations to promote a sense of partnership and collaboration. Attend and participate in community events and meetings as a representative of the City of Santa Clara. Complete administrative tasks, such as maintaining records, writing reports, and preparing court documents. Continuously seek out opportunities for professional development and training to enhance job knowledge and skills. Uphold the values and standards of the City of Santa Clara, including integrity, respect, and diversity. Adhere to all departmental policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and sensitivity when interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds and in sensitive situations. Serve as a positive role model for the community and maintain a high level of professionalism in all interactions.
